"How Much Is Too Much is easy reading with large print (estimated at approximately a sixth-grade level). Important information is reiterated graphically to reinforce specific points while pertinent quotes are also included to help reinforce information. This book would be useful for personal reading as well as parenting programs involving individuals with differing levels of education or at different stages of parenting. Although useful to a lay reader, the case study material included in many of the chapters as well as the information contained within the appendices, especially the references, makes it a useful tool for professionals working with the public or leading discussion groups of students and or/parents.” Audrey Kraynak, Ph.D., CFLE, certified school neuropsychologist as well as nationally certified and Ohio licensed school psychologist. Brilliant Book for Wise Parents January 31, 2016
Human connection and belonging are so critically and fundamentally important to a life well-lived. Dr. Clarke offers theory and research to help parents identify and overcome the individually and socially negative ramifications of overindulgence. She challenges us to understand the power of loving through the act of providing reasonable boundaries and consistent structure. Why would we do this? So that we're raising kids who don't alienate everyone around them (including their parents)? And why would that matter? Because kids who alienate others will wind up lonely and dissociated from the fullness and richness of deep, connected, open, and vulnerable human relationships. And the vital importance of that connection is an outcome worth fighting for.

With all the courses and workshops I’ve taken, all the books, studies, and other publications I’ve read; the book that impacted me the most personally is How Much Is Too Much? I think all parents – from at-risk/court-mandated to “typical” American parents need to read this book and if possible take the course.
I believe that nearly all parents want to do what’s “best” for their children, but are going about it the wrong way by doing and giving too much time, money, attention, help. I don’t need to tell you, you literally wrote the books!
I think How Much Is Too Much? should be read by every parent and let’s not forget loving doting grandparents.” Anita Kulick, President & CEO ECP…Breaking Cycles, Building Futures

- “I really appreciated reading How Much is Too Much? and exploring this issue in greater depth. I have always believed that we do our children a disservice when we fail to teach them core values like thrift, balance, responsibility, and spirituality, and overindulging strikes at the very center of these kinds of values. How Much is Too Much? is a practical, engaging and thoughtful approach to reinforcing these key values in our children’s upbringing and will make a difference to any father or mother who tends to overindulge our kids. There are lessons to be learned in How Much is Too Much? for all of us and they are lessons which will bless future generations if we follow them.” Wayne Parker, Read the full review at About.com Fatherhood.
